Argentina leads the world ranking of population affected by financial difficulties

Argentina, explains the work, is, without a doubt, going through a major economic crisis. High inflation impacts “directly on the quality of life of the population.”

Although some sectors of society are more affected than others, the study carried out shows that the discomfort regarding the economic situation is collective and that a minimum percentage lives without having to worry about how to make ends meet.

This is reflected that 76% of Argentines declare having financial difficulties, against 9% indicate that they live comfortably without problems. These difficulties increase in people from 35 to 49 years and among young people from 25 to 34 in 86% and 85% respectively. The financial situation is more complicated for those who reside in Greater Buenos Aires (83% versus 53% in residents of CABA).

Adjustment

62% of the Argentines surveyed have had to reduce some of their expenses exceeding the overall percentage.

Among those most affected are women (67% versus 57% men), the age group from 35 to 49 years (71%) and those over 65 (67%).

According to the work of WIN International and Voices in Argentina The cost of living increased due to various factors, including them the COVID-19 and the political and economic crises that affect many countries added to the armed conflicts. People all over the world have been forced to cut back due to the rising cost of living.

48% of respondents have already reduced some expenses in previous monthsbeing the age segment of 45 to 54 years the most affected (51%).

In 27 of the 36 countries that were part of the survey, at least 50% indicate that they have already reduced expenses due to the increase in the cost of living.

There are significant differences between countries: for example, citizens of Greece and Ireland have already cut their spending (in both cases 70%), while only 19% of the citizens of Japan have done.

Yet in this very country (Japan), as in the Philippines and India, a significant portion of the population is considering cutting spending in the coming months at the time of the survey. This situation has caused “Only 25% of the world’s citizens say they live comfortably without problems.”

More than half (54%) of those interviewed who have basic studies or who do not have studies, have difficulties paying their bills.

Wilma Scarpino, President of WIN International Association, noted that: “This study highlights more differences between countries than many others. Although there are some widely accepted common positions (for example, the agreement on climate change is high in all countries), the financial situation differs significantly between different parts of the world. The survey data could therefore serve, together with other sources, as a starting point for institutions, governments and NGOs to work on improving financial stability.”

“The data provided by the survey show that one of the main scourges that has plagued Argentines for decades, inflation, has spread to other latitudes.. Both here and in places as diverse as Greece, Ireland, Lebanon, Serbia, Nigeria, Pakistan and the United States. Only a few have been able to maintain their style/quality of life in recent times. The rest, although to a greater or lesser extent, had to make many sacrifices.” concludes Constanza Cilley, Executive Director of Voices.
