Lenzing extends short-time work in Burgenland

Lenzing AG is extending short-time work at its production site in Heiligenkreuz in southern Burgenland. In September of the previous year, the fiber manufacturer applied for short-time work because the high gas price made it impossible to produce profitably at the location in southern Burgenland. Production utilization was reduced from three lines to the current one.

At the weekend, the Public Employment Service (AMS) issued a positive decision about the continuation of short-time work until June 2023, retrospectively from January 1st, a spokesman said. The majority of employees use them again, an exact number was not given.

Lenzing also started talks with the state of Burgenland and Burgenland Energie about a future supply with photovoltaics and biomass. “We are in good, constructive talks,” it said.
