According to a report prepared by the Ministry based on data from the Argentine Tourism Observatory of the Argentine Chamber of Tourism (CAT)the Atlantic Coast had almost 100% occupancy; Córdoba and Entre Ríos rounded off a great January with full occupancy weekends; and the main destinations in Patagonia were around between 85% and 90%.
Likewise, it is estimated that during January about 700 thousand foreign touristsmainly from Brazil, Uruguay, Chile and the United States.
In addition, according to data provided by the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME)more than 800 billion pesos have been mobilized so far this season, 17% more than last year discounting inflation.
For its part, Aerolíneas Argentinas transported more than one and a half million (1,500,000) passengers since the high season began on December 15.
The president of the CAT, Gustavo Haniexplained that “we had a start to the season that was improving week by week, with numbers that exceed 90% occupancy in many tourist destinations in the country in the second half of January.”
“This allows us to have great expectations for the remainder of the summer with excellent results for our activity,” he stressed.
Regarding the challenges ahead, hani expressed that “the confirmation of the Pre-trip 4 for the next low season, added to the marked recovery of receptive tourism, will allow us to confirm what we have been advancing with the data of the CAT Tourist Observatorythat 2023 will be a year of high impact and growth for the tourism industry”.
In the breakdown by destination, it stands out that the province of Buenos Aires had 9 million visitors, 4.2% more than in January 2022.
Mar del Plata had 95% occupancy; Party of La Costa, 95%; Pinamar, 99%; Villa Gesell, 98%; Monte Hermoso, 95%; Miramar, 97%; Santa Clara del Mar, 96%; Necochea, 93%; Chascomus, 89%; Wolves, 95%; and Mar Chiquita, 100%, among others.
Meanwhile, in Córdoba the occupancy levels were: Villa Carlos Paz, 95%; Villa General Belgrano, 87%; Santa Rosa, 94%; La Cumbrecita, 83%; Villa Rumipal 86%; Clavero Mine, 90%; Cura Brochero, 88%; Miramar, 95%; Cosquin, 100%; Ceballos River, 80%; Alta Gracia, 90%; Reservoir, 81%; and The Skirt, 80%.
In the Northern Region, Jujuy had an 81% provincial average occupancy, with Quebrada, 90%; Valleys, 75%; Puna, 63%; and Yungas, 64%, while in Salta Cabra Corral had 85% occupancy; Cachi, 70%; and Cafayate, 65%.
In the same Northern Region, La Rioja had a 65% provincial average occupancy, with – Chilecito, 55%; Villa Union, 60%; Sanagasta, 87%; Los Sauces, 85%; Chemical, 70%; Olta, 77%; Famatina, 68%; Villa Union, 60%; and La Rioja, 72% in cabins.
For its part, Catamarca had a 70% provincial average, with Aconquija, 10%; Antofagasta de la Sierra, 100%; The Rodeo, 100%; Paclin, 100%; El Alto, 98%; Poman, 98%; Fiambala, 95%; Santa Rosa, 94%; Fray Mamerto Esquiú, 75%; and Tinogasta, 70%.
In Misiones, Puerto Iguazú had 85% occupancy, and 150,000 tourists entered the National Park in January, 12% more than those admitted in the same period of 2022; while Posadas had 76% occupancy; San Ignacio, 87%; El Dorado, 86%; The Proud, 75%; Aristobulo del Valle, 78%; and Oberá, 90%.
Corrientes had a 95% provincial average occupancy, with 95% in the Greater Corrientes Region; 88% in the Corredor Sur Correntino; 85% in the Alto Paraná Corridor; 72% in the Paraná Sur Corridor; 67% in the Guarani Jesuit Corridor; 61% in the Solar Region of Las Huellas; and 37% in the Esteros del Iberá Region.
Entre Ríos had 91% provincial average occupancy, with Colón, 92%; Federation, 91%; and Gualeguaychú, 93%. while Mendoza registered a 75% provincial average, such as San Rafael, 75%; while San Juan had a 77% provincial average, with Valle Fértil, 90%; Calingasta, 97%; Church, 85%; Jachal, 80%; and Greater San Juan, 60%, while San Luis had a provincial average of 86%.
In the Patagonia Region, the Rio Negro destinations had an outstanding performance, with San Carlos de Bariloche, 85%; El Bolson, 90%; Las Grutas, 89%; Viedma, 85%; The Condor, 95%; and Playas Doradas: 85%, while in Neuquén, San Martín delos Andes registered 75% occupancy.
In Chubut, destinations like Esquel reached 80%; Puerto Madryn, 84%; and Trevelin, 80%; in Santa Cruz, El Calafate it reached 94%; while in Tierra del Fuego, the city of Ushuaia reached 85% occupancy.
