A Buenos Aires SME will produce soybean oil with renewable energy

The project will include the construction of an oilseed extruded and processing plant -in a 1,500-square-meter warehouse- to obtain expeller and refined soybean oil, with a 408-panel photovoltaic solar generation system that will supply the necessary electrical energy for its operation, with the possibility of even injecting excess energy into the network.

The announcement was made by the president of BICE, Mariano de Miguel, and the owner of the company, Gustavo Miroglio, during a meeting held at the bank’s headquarters.

“Argentina is the third largest producer of soybeans in the world and the fourth in soybean oil. Currently, a ton of soybeans is sold at US$600, while that of oil has an approximate value of US$1,100, that is, almost 100% more. This marks the importance of projects like the one we are announcing today, which add value and generate foreign currency for the country,” De Miguel said.

“These are the investments that are going to change the productive matrix of Argentina, because they promote productive development incorporating a sustainable and long-term perspective,” he added.

For his part, the president of Rumará, assured that “we are proud to be the first to produce green soybean oil in South America.”

“The new plant, which we estimate will be ready in April of this year, will allow us to carry out production using only renewable energy. We are not only making an innovative product to sell in the foreign market, but we are also doing it while taking care of the environment” Miroglio pointed out.

Once the ship is in operation, the plant will have a grinding capacity of 250 tons of soybeans per day -which is equivalent to 95,000 tons per year- and the machines will be operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The project also contemplates the incorporation of new employees of the SME based in San Andrés de Giles. Buenos Aires province.
