Displaced persons who have been issued with an identity card (“Blue Card”) are then to be given the same legal status as Austrians and citizens of EU countries on the labor market and can therefore accept any work even without a work permit. This was announced by the Ministry of Labor yesterday, Thursday. They want to support people who want to work in Austria “as best they can,” said Labor Minister Martin Kocher (ÖVP). Displaced persons should then also be registered as unemployed with the AMS.
WKÖ Secretary General Karlheinz Kopf welcomed the step that would eliminate “a lot of bureaucracy”.
