There has been speculation for a long time, now it is fixed: The supervisory board of Siemens AG Austria has unanimously appointed 51-year-old Patricia Neumann as chairwoman. The company, which can look back on a good 140-year history in Austria, announced this yesterday, Friday, in a broadcast. “With Patricia Neumann, we have been able to gain an internationally experienced manager and proven expert in the field of digitization,” said Cedrik Neike, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Siemens AG Austria.
Neumann was appointed for five years and will take up her post on May 1st. She succeeds Wolfgang Hesoun, who, as reported, will turn 63 this year and thus reach the age limit for board members in the Siemens group. Neumann has spent most of her professional life at IBM. Among other things, she was Austria’s managing director for four years. Siemens, which is considered one of the largest industrial companies in the country, employs 9,000 people in Austria. Sales in 2022 were 2.8 billion euros.
The focus is on intelligent building infrastructure, decentralized energy systems, and automation and digitalization in the process and manufacturing industries. Siemens has also had a branch in Linz since 1902. There are currently 700 employees, including 33 apprentices.
