First of all, I am glad that they are clear that this year they are LEAVING. On the other hand, I am open to discussing the issue with Minister Massa. Good luck defending Kirchnerism, Gabriel. All the best. https://t.co/qn4kNZdPf9

The deputy and former Minister of Economy of former President Eduardo De la Rua was the first to respond to the statements of the vice Minister and in trying to dispel doubts about the role of the opposition regarding the solidity of the debt in pesos and the statement issued by the national board of Together for Change: “The statement does not hide the seriousness of the situation. What we are saying is that they have been with policies that are trying to lengthen the problem and make it bigger, we need a policy that addresses the problems. They would have to explain how they are going to meet the goals for March and July,” he said in dialogue with Urbana Play.
“Never has a government indebted the country as much as this one. I’ve been saying this for a year or so. We are reporting a problem. It is not that we are in a comfortable situation, we are missing targets, manipulating exchange rates. This government put in 22 billion dollars per year (debt),” he said about the debt that the current government took and added: “Debt in pesos is more expensive than debt in dollars. They are issuing bonds adjusted for the official exchange rate that pay zero interest. With such a backward exchange rate, they are putting in dollars that everyone wants to get.”
Faced with the accusations that the opposition threatens the debt in pesos and its sustainability, the deputy pointed out: “I am willing to go to a public debate on how to face this problem in order to consolidate. I am willing to pay the necessary political prices by helping the government to correct this disaster.”
It also relativized the weight of the debt taken with the IMF by the Government of Mauricio Macri and assured that he voted against the agreement with the organization due to “the accumulation of debt that it implied and the transfer to the next government of the bulk of the fiscal correction. That would be unfeasible and generate the problems that it is generating. Heavy debt is not that. Maturities with the Fund are one tenth of the debt“.
Finally, he assured that the Government has the support of financial entities: “The international community has tried to prevent the government from falling into disaster and they have given him facilities that they never gave him, despite that, fail to comply with the measures and present fiscally absurd measures“.
