Debt in pesos and deficit: what Gabriel Rubinstein said

In an article published in Infobae, gabriel rubinstein He stressed once again the Government’s claim to “permanently lower the fiscal deficit”, one of the main macroeconomic objectives set by the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, when he took office.

In the same line, rubinstein He pointed out that from the measures adopted by the head of the Palacio de Hacienda they managed to bring the deficit to “2.5” and added: “We reaffirm the goal of achieving a deficit of 1.9% by 2023.”

He also referred to the management of the debt in pesos, a point on which he received harsh criticism from the opposition last week: “Maintaining the debt/GDP ratio at 12% implies a fiscal effort of the order of 0.2% of GDP, which, in our opinion, is quite sustainable”.

Besides, rubinstein He highlighted the management capacity that the Ministry of Economy has and that they continue to work to improve the fiscal situation, the external accounts, accumulating reserves, with the problem of drought against them.

In this sense, the deputy minister of Massa pointed out the sustainability of economic activity. “We work to improve as much as possible and in the shortest possible time,” he concluded.
