The payments recognize the performance of the employees over the past year. There was already an equally high bonus for employees in Germany in 2021, but this took a longer period into account. Stellantis ended the past year with record sales of 179.6 billion euros and a 26 percent increase in profit of 16.8 billion euros. Two percent fewer cars were sold than in the previous year.
Stellantis has increased global employee payouts for 2022 by 200 million to two billion euros. This includes profit sharing and variable bonuses. “If the company is doing well, all employees are doing well,” said CEO Carlos Tavares. Stellantis also announced planned dividend payments of 4.2 billion euros and a share buyback program with a volume of 1.5 billion euros on Wednesday. These payments benefit the shareholders directly or indirectly.
