Martín Guzmán seeks agreements in the US to encourage investments

On his trip to Washington to participate in the G20 and the Annual Assembly of the Monetary Fund and the World Bank, Guzmán also held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Italy, Switzerland, South Korea and Mexico.

During the meeting with the Swiss minister Ueli Meurer, the diplomatic adviser, Alexandra Baumann; the Secretary of State for International Financial Affairs, Daniela Stoffel; the representative of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) Michael Manz; and Peter Minder, spokesman for the minister.

Later, Minister Guzmán met with his Italian counterpart, Daniele Franco; the general director of the Italian Treasury and G20 Deputy, Alessandro Rivera; and the diplomatic adviser of that country, Fabio Sokolowicz. At this meeting, the Minister of Economy discussed the challenges of the international financial architecture and expressed Argentina’s support for the Italian presidency of the G20.

The meeting agenda was completed with the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit of Mexico, Rogelio Ramírez de la O; the undersecretary Gabriel Yorio González, and with the general director of International Financial Organizations, Brenda Ciuk. Finally, Guzmán had a meeting with the Korean Finance Minister, Hong Nam-Ki.

Tomorrow, Guzmán will be joined by the Chief of Staff, Juan Manzur, who left on Thursday morning for New York, United States, where he will accompany the minister in an agenda of meetings with businessmen and investors. Manzur left at around 8 a.m. from Ezeiza International Airport.

The Chief of Staff explained that -together with the head of the Palacio de Hacienda- they will seek to bring “the vision of the national government” to global investors based in New York.

“It is an indication of the President of the Nation. To accompany the Minister of Economy in the framework of a meeting that on Friday he will have with a series of businessmen and investors at a global level. We are going to bring the vision of the national government,” he said.
