Unemployment in the urban population fell to 6.7% in the third quarter of 2022

The indicator was located like this four tenths below the unemployment rate registered in the third quarter of last year, which was 7.1%reported at the end of 2022 by the statistical agency.

This difference is explained because the new report expands the universe of calculation to include localities with more than two thousand inhabitantswhile the other is prepared with the data from the Permanent Household Survey (EPH) of 31 agglomerates with more than 500,000 inhabitants.

In the new report, the highest unemployment rate was registered in Buenos Aires (8.7%), while the lowest rate was registered in San Luis (1.7%).

While, only two provinces (Buenos Aires, with 8.7%; and Catamarca, with 7.3%) are above the national average.

On the other hand, added the work, in the quarter, the City of Buenos Aires registered the highest employment rate (51%), followed by Santa Fe (45.6%) and Córdoba (45%).

At the other extreme, the provinces with the lowest employment rate were Formosa (with 32.3%), Chaco (39.6%), Corrientes and San Juan (both with 39.8%).

In the December report, INDEC had stated that the regions with the highest activity rates were Greater Buenos Aires (48.6%), Pampeana (48.3%) and Cuyo (46.7%); and the one with the lowest activity rate was the Northeast (43.9%).
