“We give them until Monday after Expoagro (March 13) for them to comply with the situation, but we also have to prepare a march to Buenos Aires to demand the fundamental measures,” said the president of the Agrarian Federation, Carlos Achetoni, at the close of the act.
The Assembly was held at the intersection of the Rosario-Buenos Aires Highway with Route 90 in the Villa Constitución area. The presidents of the entities also participated, Jorge Chemes, from the Argentine Rural Confederations (CRA), Nicolás Pino, from the Argentine Rural Society (SRA), and Elvio Laucirica, from Coninagro.
At the same time, Achetoni urged the Government to respond effectively before Monday, March 13, to the suspension of the embargoes, lawsuits, payments of advances of Profits, and the processes of liabilities in the banks. “This is in the first instance because they are measures for the situation and from today we declare ourselves on alert and mobilization,” said the head of the FAA.
Regarding the structural claims, Achetoni urged the producers to prepare a march towards the Casa Rosada and the Congress to demand the substantive measures that the sector needs, such as the unification of the exchange rate and the elimination of withholdings.
Meanwhile, the ruling party stresses that a host of measures are being implemented to assist affected producers in a context in which the low availability of foreign currency also impacts. The focus is also placed on helping small and medium-sized farmers in the first place, who are ultimately the ones with the least financial support to face the current climate disaster.
Going forward, the Liaison Table assures that it will continue to dialogue with the Government, more precisely with the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, and his Undersecretary of Agriculture, Juan José Bahillo, but the truth is that on more than one occasion the leaders were called to the dialogue and chose not to be part of the game.
On the sidewalk across the street and with their usual spirit of dialogue, the business representatives that make up the Agroindustrial Council will present this Wednesday at the headquarters of the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, the “Federal Agroindustrial Plan 2023/2033” for the elections. The document consists of various proposals to promote the sector and generate a work agenda with an eye on the medium term and of course on the generation of employment. Meanwhile, it will be submitted for analysis to the different sectors of the national political class.
