They announce measures to avoid intermediation in social plans

The Social Development authorities are finalizing the details of the new system that will aim to ensure a direct relationship between beneficiaries and authorities. In this sense, it is anticipated that will probably have an application “My Argentina” and in addition to a line 0800 oriented so that the recipients of the plans can control the benefits and eventually make complaints. It will be prevented, they explain in the Government, that “intermediaries” appropriate part of the benefits.

The authorities consider that maximizing social assistance is essential within the framework of a social group that has been critical for years and that was recently aggravated by the pandemic, causing alarming levels of poverty.

The most important programs that the Ministry of Social Development is in charge of – they are allocated most of the budget – are the Feed Card together with different food assistance programs, and the Empower Work Program.

Every month, through a debit card from the Banco de la Nación, the State assists some 3,900,000 people who are in a situation of social vulnerability and food insecurity (2,300,000 plastics).

For its part, the Empower Work program covers 1,100,000 people who receive half a minimum wage, living and mobile.

Last Thursday in the city of Buenos Aires they registered numerous cuts and protests of social organizations with the request of economic assistance and employment. Minister Zabaleta considered, in this sense, that “Nothing was ever solved by humping the lives of others” and what’s up “An electoralist reading” in claims.

The official recalled that the Ministry of Social Development listens and tries to solve these problems. Also that they are working on link the complementary social salary (Plan Empower Work) with the agreement salary in the harvests or the construction and hotel sectors, among others.

The expectation of the gastronomic and hotel union is to generate 100,000 jobs and “there are going to be the Empower Work plans with the social salary for genuine work”. In other words, the social salary is maintained as a base salary ($ 16,000) to which the agreement is added. Zabaleta pointed out that both companies and unions are in favor of this initiative that it is planned to expand to other activities.

These decisions are in line with what was stated by the president who stated, at the end of last August “I want the plans to disappear and there is work” and from Zabaleta in that the Government seeks “to convert social plans into genuine employment.”
