Another of the previous government officials who lamented the economist’s departure was Alfonso Prat Gay, Prime Minister of Economy of Macri. “What sad news the death of Julio Piekarz, a true expert and teacher in very complex monetary policy issues. My condolences to his family and friends,” he expressed on his networks.
Eduardo Levy Yeyati, dean of the Di Tella University, was another of the prominent economists who fondly remembered Piekarz. “A huge shame the departure of Julio Piekarz, noble friend and renowned economist. Have a rest, dear Julio”, were his farewell words to those who knew how to be a professor of Monetary Theory at Di Tella.
Piekarz was also fired by colleagues such as Lucas Llach, Gabriel Caamaño, Martín Polo, Carlos Rodríguez, among others.
In addition to the aforementioned positions, Piekarz also became executive director and vice president of Banco Supervielle, deputy general director of the former Banco de Crédito Argentino and advisor at JP Morgan.
