February presented an increase in demand for the electric power 12.7%, reaching 11,904.6 GWh nationwide with temperatures higher than the previous year, but also the historical average for the month according to the latest Fundalec report. In addition, the distributors of Capital and GBA had a rise of 22.5%.
In February 2023, the total net demand of the MEM was 11,904.6 GWh; while, in the same month of 2022, it had been 10,561.2 GWh1. Therefore, the year-on-year comparison shows an increase of 12.7%.
In Februarythere was a month-on-month decrease of -12.4%, compared to January 2023, which reached 13,592.5 GWh and was the highest consumption in history.
Regarding residential demand in February, it reached 49% of the total country with a rise of 20.4% compared to the same month of the previous year.
Meanwhile, commercial demand rose 2.9%, accounting for 26% of total consumption. And industrial demand reflected another 25%, with a rise in the month of approximately 2.4%. On the other hand, and in relation to the month of March, a maximum power of 29,105 MW was registered on March 13, 2023 at 3:28 p.m., thus becoming the new historical record.

How was the consumption in the last months
The electricity demand registered in the last twelve months (including February 2023) 3 months of decline (March 2022, -1.5%; September 2022, -0.6%; and October 2022, -2.2% ) and 9 months of rise (April, 3.4%; May, 6.8%; June, 8.5%; July, 1.9%; August, 1%; November, 7.2%; December 2022 , 4.6%; January 2023, 4.1%; and February 2023, 12.7%).
The mobile year (last twelve months) shows a rise of 3.8%. On the other hand, previous records show that consumption in March 2022 reached 10,884.5 GWh; April, 10,149.1 GWh; May, 11,730.9 GWh; June, 13,073.8 GWh; July, 12,638.9 GWh; August, 11,781.4 GWh; September, 10,310.02 GWh; October, 10,217.09 GWh; November, 11,319.3 GWh; December 2022, 13,024.7 GWh; January 2023, 13,592.5 GWh; and, finally, February reached 11,904.6 GWh.
Regional consumption
Regarding consumption by province, in February, 4 were the provinces and/or companies that marked decreases: Misiones (-4%), Corrientes (-3%), Formosa (-3%) and Santa Cruz (-1%). .
For their part, 23 provinces and/or companies presented increases in consumption: La Pampa (24%), EDELAP (22%), La Rioja (19%), EDEN (19%), Chubut (17%), Santiago del Estero (16%), Tucumán (16%), Mendoza (14%), Córdoba (12%), San Juan (12%), Catamarca (11%), Entre Ríos (10%), Santa Fe (8%) , EDES (8%), Río Negro (6%), Salta (6%), Neuquén (5%), Jujuy (5%), San Luis (5%), EDEA (4%), Chaco (1%) , among others.
With regard to the detail of Capital and GBA distributors, which demanded 32% of the country’s consumption and totaled a joint rise of 22.5%, CAMMESA’s records indicate that EDENOR had a rise of 22.6%, while in EDESUR demand increased by 22.4%. The rest of the country increased its consumption by 8.6%.
