“If the chambers continue as before, we will soon no longer need our boots!” With this banner and dozens of pairs of rubber boots, around 20 representatives of the Austrian Agricultural Community (AGÖ) held a rally on Wednesday before the General Assembly of the Chamber of Agriculture.
Better framework conditions are finally needed, said Martina Mittermayr from Andorf, who handed over a claim paper to President Franz Waldenberger. AGÖ spokesman Johann Konrad from Pfaffing wants an “apolitical chamber and that those responsible really stand up for the farmers”.
Waldenberger: Some of the demands of the AGÖ are not correct in terms of content, but we agree on other demands. Officials are democratically elected.
In the general assembly, the chamber criticized the climate ministry because biodiversity funding “is used for administration and NGOs instead of farmers”.
