He Ministry of Economy declared a state of emergency and/or agricultural disaster in farms affected by the drought in the province of Mendoza.

The measure, similar to the one that has already been taken in other provinces, was formalized through Resolution 334/2023, published this Thursday in the Official Gazette.

According to the provisions, the declaration extends from April 1, 2022 and until March 31, 2024 to goat, bovine, equine, sheep and beekeeping farms in the Mendoza territory.

March 31, 2024 is the end date of the productive cycle for agricultural holdings affected by the drought.

In order to qualify for the benefits provided by Law No. 26,509 (agricultural emergency), producers must present a certificate issued by the competent authority of the province, stating that their properties or farms are affected.

For their part, the national, official or mixed banking institutions and the AFIP will arbitrate the necessary means so that the producers enjoy the benefits provided for in that Law, in accordance with the Resolution.

The decision of the Ministry of Economy was made after the Mendoza Government presented Provincial Decree No. 2,404 of December 19, 2022 for its treatment, at the meeting of the National Commission on Agricultural Emergencies and Disasters on February 14, 2023, for the purposes of applying Law No. 26,509.

After that meeting, The Commission recommended declaring a state of emergency and/or agricultural disaster with the scope proposed by the province.
