Massive reduction in debt, more profit: 2022 went well for the arms manufacturer Heckler & Koch. The prospects are positive.
The weapons manufacturer Heckler & Koch earned better than ever in 2022. The bottom line profit increased by 132 percent to 50.6 million euros, as CEO Jens Bodo Koch announced on Friday in Oberndorf in Baden-Württemberg. In 2022, the two large military orders from the USA were processed. But also in Europe the demand of the security forces was high. Currency effects also played a role. The dollar exchange rate had a positive effect on the result.
The company manufactures assault rifles and handguns, among other things. Sales rose last year by 5.1 percent to 305.1 million. Koch did not dare to make a specific forecast. However, the CEO emphasized: “For 2023 we expect sales at the level of 2022. But the increased raw material prices and energy costs will have a corresponding effect.” The order books are full.
A few years ago, Heckler & Koch was still struggling with economic difficulties. The mountain of debt was high. But the situation improved noticeably. The debt at the end of the year was still 110 million euros. In the same period last year it was 244 million euros.
