Therefore, the trade surplus accumulated so far this year reached US $ 10,649 million, just below the US $ 11,241 million registered last year, when economic activity was extremely depressed due to the impact of Covid-19.

However, from the IARAF they clarified that If the 2021 trade balance is valued at 2020 prices, the positive result falls to $ 5,043 million.

The latter is explained by the fact that the price of Argentine exports grew by 25% year-on-year, while the price of imports increased by 12%. At the same time, exported quantities rose 8%, along with a 36% rise in imported quantities, something that usually happens when the domestic economy begins to reactivate.

Regarding prices, the largest increases were verified in exports of fuels and energy (+ 60% annually), manufactures of agricultural origin (30%) and primary products (25%), the latter driven by the performance of soybeans . At the other extreme, there was a 4% drop in the price of passenger vehicle imports.

Regarding quantities, the podium was led by imports of parts and accessories of capital goods (+ 65%), fuels and lubricants (64%) and passenger vehicles (+ 42%). Among the falls, those in exports of primary products (-7%) and fuels and energy (-23%) stood out.
