Watch the video: Strike on the train and it’s on.
In Germany, a 24-hour warning strike began on Monday at many transport companies. Work was largely stopped on the railways, at airports, in shipping and other transport companies. According to the trade union, it is the largest strike in Germany since 1992. It was empty early in the morning at Frankfurt Airport. There, the handling of passengers was stopped, it was not possible to take off. “I think it’s just exaggerated to have a kind of general strike here. In the public sector, where most of them are paid for with our tax money. I just don’t think it’s okay.” “But I mean, I’ve never been on strike, my whole life and I’ve been working for over 40 years. But in France there are always strikes if something is wrong. Sure, anyone can go on strike. Anyone can, just I think, man could maybe organize it a bit better. Then at least the people who are gone, who want to go back, that you organize it better. What went wrong here with us.” There was also hardly any activity at the main train station in Munich, and only a few travelers were to be found. The railway had announced that it would completely stop long-distance traffic on Monday. In regional traffic, operations are severely restricted. The railway and transport union (EVG) is negotiating for around 230,000 employees, for whom they want twelve percent more wages, but at least 650 euros more per month. Verdi is negotiating for the approximately 2.5 million public sector employees at the federal and local governments, including those working in local transport and at airports. The union demands 10.5 percent more, but at least 500 euros a month.
