the product baskets increased up to 190%

In view of the celebration of Easterin which families usually come together to eat the same menu, the Institute of Mass Consumption Studies (INDECOM) determined that this year the chocolate eggs, fish and fresh pasta lead the price stampede. For this reason and given the difficulties in importing basic inputs, the Easter basket arrives at the table with an increase of up to 190%, in the case of products.

According to the study, average increases of 150% are registered in 2023, with products reaching peaks of more than 200%. In detail, the agency’s survey shows that the podium of the increases is headed by the Easter eggs (between 80 and 186%, depending on the brand and quality), for the fish (whose rise is between 70 and 160%) and, in third place, Easter bagels and fresh pastain which increases ranging from 68 to 150% are observed.

On the other hand, the study also observed a decrease of between 15% and 20% in the stock of chocolate eggs. At this point, it was determined that “the problems arising from the restrictions on imports of basic inputssuch as cocoa or some essences in particular, affect the final production of the chocolate factories.

However, “just like in 2022, a disparity is observed between inflation in general and the rise in prices for this religious holiday“.
