The Supervisory Board of ÖBB-Holding unanimously appointed Manuela Waldner to the Executive Board on July 1 for a period of five years. The manager succeeds Arnold Schiefer (FPÖ) on the holding board, who leaves ÖBB early at his own request in the middle of the year. The party independent is the first woman in the history of ÖBB to make it onto the board of the holding company.
The 42-year-old is considered a top manager with high qualifications in the mobility sector and sound financial experience. The business administration graduate is currently a partner and managing director at the Boston Consulting Group Austria. According to the ÖBB, she was able to assert herself from a very broad group of applicants with her expertise and experience and was able to convince her in the hearing.
“Waldner is a proven expert – with a lot of experience in the field of mobility as well as digital and green transformation. She has exactly the skills that our railways need on the way to a climate-neutral future. I’m really looking forward to working together,” says Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens). “And I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Arnold Schiefer – he has fulfilled this task with great commitment over the past few years. I wish him all the best for the future.”
