In Mexico, economic activity advanced 5% in September

Preliminary figures represent a slowdown compared to August, when the IOAE estimated an expansion of 6.8% in relation to the same month of the previous year.

The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) estimated a positive variation of the Global Indicator of Economic Activity (IGAE) in September 2021 of 0.1%, compared to the immediately previous month (August).

For the main Large Sectors of activity of the IGAE, the Institute pointed out that for the secondary activities (industry, construction, mining, energy and artisanal) a monthly decrease of 0.5% is calculated, but an annual increase of 4%.

Regarding the tertiary sector (services) estimates a monthly increase of 0.1 percent and an annual increase of 6.1%.

The behavior in the service sector, among which is tourism, is not far from what was observed in the previous two months, which would suggest that it had a weak quarter despite the increase in economic activities in the midst of the pandemic. by Covid-19.
