The president of the Argentine Rural Society (SRA), Nicholas Pinoquestioned on Thursday the implementation of a “agro dollar” unified and simplification of the prices to import products and services and argued that “It will generate distortions.”
In dialogue with Radio Rivadavia, Pino indicated that the “agro dollar” will include many products of the regional economiessuch as yerba mate, rice, peanuts and wine products, among others.
When asked about the view of the SRA regarding this new regulation, he considered that “It is not the solution for the Argentine countryside, but a need for government collection.”
“It will generate distortions in prices, as it generated the ‘soybean dollar’because when one wants to intervene in the markets, it causes this type of thing: uncertainty and bewilderment,” he said.
On the other hand, Pino assured that they showed “the minister Sergio Massa with the ‘soybean dollar 2’ that, If the decision had been to remove the withholdings, the cost would be exactly the same with the difference that it was going to generate more expectations in the producers”.
“If it is a measure only to raise money, say it openly,” he added.
Likewise, the president of the SRA highlighted that, through a report carried out by the entity, it was estimated that the losses due to the drought would be around 20,000 million dollars in all productive areas.
“This exceeds the problem of producers alone. We estimate that this year there will be 1.5 million fewer truck trips“, concluded the representative of the Liaison Table.
