Verdi: Why it is wrong to let collective bargaining fail

The employers presented a fair offer during the collective bargaining for the public sector in order to largely meet the Verdi demands with a lot of tax money. But Verdi refuses – and announces new strikes. This is not only an affront to all other workers, but also damages the reputation of unions.

“Insanity is something rare in individuals, but the rule in groups, parties, peoples, times.” Friedrich Nietzsche left this wisdom behind. In view of the ongoing collective bargaining in the public sector, one might think: the philosopher was right. With its insane behavior, the Verdi services union is currently lacking any empathy and reason to promote public spirit.
