The inaugurated plant belongs to the Pixart company and is expected to produce 1,500 notebooks per day. They will initially work in the establishment ten engineers from a control tower and will supervise the tasks carried out by 36 robots for the manufacture of the devices. It will be the first “smart” industry 4.0 factory in Latin America, becoming the most advanced in the continent in the field of electronics.
Massa was present at the inauguration ceremony of the plant together with the Secretary of Knowledge Economy, Ariel Sujarchuk, and stated: “I feel proud to see that our country can produce and export state-of-the-art technology and fully enter the industry 4.0 with development focused on robotics and producing goods that are central to the future of the world.”
The Pixart company will carry out this initiative with Intel technology and in cooperation with Google and Qualcom. In addition to the 1,500 computers daily, at the factory chips will also be made. This seeks to generate a improvement in local costs, increase exports and employ local labor, the firm specified.
From the development of these state-of-the-art items and methods, Massa said: “We don’t need to go elsewhere for chips, because they start to be produced here; We don’t need to import finished Google computers, because they start to be produced here; and We are also going to export to all of Latin America“.
In this sense, he added: “Every dollar of Argentine work we sell to the world, every boy who comes to work here, every finished product -be it a chip, a matter or a notebook- what it will show is that the decision to think about the country has a reward in the long run“.
On the other hand, he highlighted the impact on the labor market of the decision to encourage the knowledge economy made by the National Government. He pointed out that “a mechanism is being put into operation to incorporate thousands of Argentine children into the formal market who are dedicated to producing, exporting, and selling knowledge.”
The inaugurated plant has a surface of 4,500 square meters and will cover all its demand for electrical energy from solar panels.
The Secretary of Industry and Productive Development, José Ignacio de Mendiguren, and the main authorities of the Pixart company also participated in the inaugural event.
