Passengers received a total of 92.7 million euros because their trains arrived late, as the group announced. That was 54.5 million euros more than in the previous year. The “Rheinische Post” had previously reported about it.

In particular, the high level of construction activity on the network, which was outdated and overloaded in many places, had slowed down long-distance traffic in 2022. At the same time, with the end of the travel restrictions after the pandemic, significantly more passengers were on the road than before. In addition, the digital option has made it much easier to apply for compensation. Significantly more passengers make use of it.

Deutsche Bahn reimburses a quarter of the fare for delays of more than one hour and half for delays of two hours or more.
