He Government of Cordoba declared the state of “emergency and/or agricultural disaster” in productive locations of 21 apartments of the provincial interior, as a consequence of the drought.

The norm establishes tax breaks to mitigate the impact of the tax obligations that the sector must pay.

Decree No. 404, published in BProvincial Official Bulletindetermines the state of ’emergency and/or agricultural disaster’ from March 1, 2023 and until August 31, 2023 for agricultural, forestry and fruit and vegetable producers affected by the drought phenomenon between the second semester of 2022 and January of 2023.

For the case of livestock, dairy and beekeeping producers the same measure will govern between March 1, 2023 and February 29, 2024upholds the norm.

It also adds that the affected areas were delimited using the geo-referenced polygons criteriawhich in this case covers productive locations in 21 of the 26 departments that make up the provincial geography.

Benefits for regional economies

The legal instrument exempts between 41.66% and 83.33% the payment of the Basic Rural Real Estate Taxthe proportional part of the Additional Basic Rural Real Estate Tax and the proportional part of the tax differences that could arise corresponding to the 2023 annuity, and of the Special Contribution for the Financing of Works and Services of the Trust for Agricultural Development (FDA).

Argentina’s plan to increase its foreign exchange reserves encouraging the soybean exports which will be announced on Wednesday will take effect next Monday and will last until May 24, according to a government source.

Meanwhile, it is expected that the inflow of foreign currency will alleviate the situation of the battered Argentine economy, although it will hardly be able to alleviate the negative effects of a historic drought in the country.
