The province of chubut closed his prawn season with a historical record above the 116,000 tons of fishinglargely thanks to the impulse of the catch with landing in it Rawson Harborwhich on its own account reached the 91,800 tons.
The Rawsense number far exceeds the 72,800 tons of the previous mark, which was registered in 2018. It also shows an approximate growth of the 72% compared to last year, when the weight totaled by that port terminal was 65,800 tons.

In this new provincial landmark it was fundamental the high level of sectoral activity around the ports of the capital and the city of Puerto Madryn. Both are at the top of the ranking of Argentine portsas recently announced by that body dependent on the Ministry of Transportation of the Nation.
In addition to the optimal weather conditionsto achieve this extraordinary harvest, the work of the government was decisive in terms of the port development which traversed the rawsense terminal. For example, on the property were built new piers, an improvement that made it possible to significantly expand the range of operation. Likewise, on a general scale, restrictions and closed in different breeding areas.

For his part, the Governor of chubut, Mariano Arcionihighlighted the scope of the brand and pointed out how “clue” the political decision to “continue betting on the shrimp fishing and to resource care”. In this regard, he recalled: “In February, we met with the fishing representatives to evaluate permissions according to the requirements established by the Law”.
Regarding the development of the activity during this last season, the provincial president explained: “We started 20 days late because the unions took longer to agree. However, we surpass our historical recordwhile our fishing grounds continue to grow, which is the most important thing”.

Besides, Puerto Madryn managed to download between the end of November and up to February a total of 24,356 t. On a national scale, this data positions the Chubut town only behind Rawson and the Buenos Aires city of sea of silverin terms of growth compared to 2022, accounting for an increase in 24%.
On this basis, a flagship product of the Argentine fishery such as shrimp allows to grant them direct employment about 13 thousand people in chubut.

In fact, during February and March, the company was able to commercialize everything it caught in Chubut waters internationally, as announced in the framework of the most recent “Seafood Expo”, which took place in Boston, United States.
The success in terms of international sales is also due to the shellfish characteristics which is obtained in the Patagonian province. It’s about a firm prawnof hard shell and one exceptional sizewith a predominance of L1 and L2according to the companies and authorities that face this activity in the province of chubut.
