ARBING. “Orders from the new building sector are declining. But we are feeling an upswing again with renovations, they currently make up 60 percent of the business. And we have a lot of small orders that will certainly not come to an end,” says Eveline Grabmann, managing director of the component dealer BS Grabmann in Arbing (district Perg). The company is fully utilized until the middle of the year and despite changed conditions (increased interest rates, more difficult conditions for lending) are also confident about the future.
BS (“Bester Service”) Grabmann was founded 30 years ago by Leopoldine and Franz Grabmann – at home in the ironing room and without employees. In the beginning, work was also carried out in the basement and attic, but today the company has concentrated on trading in windows, doors, gates and sun protection. 17,000 window units are sold per year. “The demand for sun protection in particular has risen sharply over the years and has increased tenfold within ten years,” says Franz Grabmann. In the past financial year (as of December 31), 53 employees generated sales of EUR 18.4 million (2021: EUR 15.1 million). The forecasts for this year are difficult: 43-year-old Eveline Grabmann, who has been managing director since 2014, expects a slight decline after three very good years. In addition to Arbing, another location is operated in Kirchdorf.
Window as the largest area
The family business achieves more than half of its turnover with windows: the supplier is Internorm. They also work together with Schlotterer and Normstahl. BS Grabmann also offers its customers (2700 a year) advice, installation and service.
Ten years ago, BS Grabmann moved from Baumgartenberg to Arbing: In the showroom there is not only the opportunity to test heat and sound insulation, but also a “door cinema”. To mark the anniversary, a party for employees and an open day are planned. (prel)
