The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massawill maintain an intense agenda this Friday in Washington, within the framework of his second day of participation in the Spring Meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB).
In this sense, Massa will participate in the plenary session and in the work meetings of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC).
During the day, Massa will also hold a working meeting with the Deputy Managing Director of the IMF, Gita Gopinath. In addition, and will attend a meeting of Ministers of Economy with the participation of the Managing Director of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva.
This is a key meeting for the Government, which is looking for dollars to stabilize the economy, and more flexible conditions to the goals set forth in the agreement for the payment of the debt.
Likewise, the Minister of Economy together with the Minister of Education, Jaime Perczyk and the Executive Director for Argentina and the Southern Cone in the World Bank Group, Cecilia Nahón will have a working meeting for financing for education.
Then Massa will meet with Michel Pyle, Deputy Director of the National Security Council and Juan González, special adviser to President Biden and director for Latin America of the National Security Council with whom he will analyze issues related to the bilateral relationship with the United States, and they will review the regional scene.
Later, Massa is expected to attend a working meeting with economic authorities from South America and Mexico, organized by the IMF’s Western Hemisphere Department.
The head of the Palacio de Hacienda will also have working meetings with Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, with whom he will analyze the challenges of financing for development and the need to update the current international financial architecture; and with Anna Berdje, Director of Operations of the WB.
Finally, he will have his first meeting with the new president of the World Bank Ajay Banga.
