The Government deflated the possibility of repealing the rental law

The presidential spokesperson, Gabriela Cerruti, maintained that the rental law “is in force” and that the announcements made on the subject by the Buenos Aires head of government, Horacio Rodriguez Larretashow that -beyond the national standard- “the rental price is from CABA, the impossibility of rent is from CABAso it needs and deserves local policies”.

Cerruti -in the usual press conference on Thursdays at Casa Rosada- said that “The rental law is a law that can be perfected, without any doubt, but it is a law that basically protects tenants.”

“Until we have a better tool to protect tenants, the law is in force,” he added.

And he expanded: “We are always willing for Parliament to give the discussions it has to give or to make proposals that the Executive Power can carry out to find the tools that allow us to perfect this law, so that in addition to protecting tenants it is really to promote rentals and that these are at a lower price”.

“Listening this morning (yesterday) to the current head of Government of the city of Buenos Aires (Horacio Rodríguez Larreta) and being a former Buenos Aires legislator, I say that the issue of rents is an issue that has to do with the policies that are carried out at the local level,” Cerruti said.

And he explained: “The issue of rents in the City of Buenos Aires, which has a problem that seems national because all the issues of the City seem national, but it is from the city of Buenos Aires. The price of the rents is from CABA, the impossibility of renting is from CABA, so it needs and deserves local policies”.

“When we were in the Legislature, at the time we approved that Banco Ciudad had to be the guarantee of rents in the City,” recalled the spokeswoman, and pointed out that “this is in force and yet the City does not implement it.”

“We also proposed at the time some form of regulation of what is known as Airbnb, because one of the problems in the city of Buenos Aires, as in all large cities, is that many owners rent their homes in dollars to foreigners. , because there is a lot of tourism, affecting not only those who cannot rent permanently but also hotels,” Cerruti said.

And he added: “When we listened today to Horacio Rodríguez Larreta who finally took charge of the fact that the issue of rents is a matter for the City of Buenos Aires, what we want to tell him is that it seems to us that there are many more measures to take and to carry out so that tenants in CABA can access affordable prices”.

He exemplified “not giving building permits indiscriminately” and “not having unoccupied homes in the city of Buenos Aires that are only built for real estate investment.”

In return, the official stressed that the national government has a “housing policy” and said that “President Alberto Fernández handed over the 100,000-management house in Santiago del Estero,” in an act held yesterday, while “there are also another 140,000 that will be delivered between now and the end of the year”.
