Malbec World Day will be held on Thursday, April 20, at the residence of Javier Figueroa, Argentine ambassador in London, United Kingdom, the second market in global terms for the Argentine wine industry.

Aimed at importers and distributors of wine, hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, sommeliers, chefs, wine bars, among others, it will have two tastings guided by representatives of some wineries, reported the commercial section of the Embassy.

In the event, in which there will be 98 wine labels and 21 participating Argentine wineries, it is expected that the participants will be able to taste a wide variety of Argentine Malbec and discover the quality and diversity of Argentine wines.

The Argentine Embassy in the United Kingdom informed that it renews its commitment to the promotion of Argentine Malbec in the world, and hopes that this event can contribute to further positioning Argentine wine in the British market.

“With the motto ¡Malbec Argentino Campeón! and the presence of important wineries and representatives of the sector, the event promises to be a unique experience for all wine lovers in the United Kingdom”, indicated from the diplomatic representation.

“The Malbec Day event is very important to us, in this market in which Argentine wine has a very relevant place,” Pedro Sondereguer, in charge of the Embassy’s Economic and Commercial Section, told Télam.

For Sondereguer, this can be seen in the numbers of Argentine wine exports to the United Kingdom, which were US$94 million in 2020, US$101 million in 2021 and US$147 million in 2022.

He added that last year 41 Argentine wineries participated (who sent their wines) and some 200 people attended who were able to taste the product; while this year the approach will be a little different because the idea is that the participating wineries have a representative that day.

“Someone who can tell the story of the winery well and explain the specific characteristics of the product; at the moment, we have 21 registered wineries,” he said.

“We hope to be able to convene more than 200 people from the sector, like last year, to continue together with this work of years of consolidating Argentine wine in the United Kingdom,” he concluded.
