The Ministry of Agriculture officialized the distribution of an additional quota of 12,111.31 tons of raw sugar with polarization not less than 96 degrees destined for the United States, which are added to the 44,178.3 tons already assigned for the period between October 1, 2022 and on September 30, 2023.

The measure was ordered through resolution 134/2023, published today in the Official Gazette, in whose annex the quota assigned to each of the fourteen beneficiary companies of the quota expansion is set.

The list is headed by Ledesma, with 4,281.63 tons, followed by Complejo Azucarero Concepción (2,565.41), Compañía Inversora Industrial (1,448.24), Prosal (1,299.99), Arcor (856.91) and Salta Refrescos ( 519.45).

The list is completed with Seaboard Renewable Energy and Food (369.07 tons), Delotte (193.30), Ferma Agrobusiness (145.87), Complejo Alimenticio San Salvador (81.92), José Minetti (67.29), Ingenio Río Grande (32.59) and Azucarera San Gerónimo (8.63).

The United States had set a quota for the import of raw sugar from Argentina of 46,260 tons for the 2022/2023 period, which, deducting the polarization margin, includes the amount of 44,178.3 tons.

On March 14, the Office of the US Foreign Trade Representative formalized a reallocation of the raw sugar import tariff quota and Argentina was the beneficiary with a quota of 12,682 additional tons that, after deducting the polarization margin, includes the amount of 12,111.31 tons.

Agriculture specified that the extension is optional acceptance and will be considered accepted by the beneficiaries if they do not communicate their withdrawal within a period of 5 business days from the communication.

The tonnage resulting from the expansion that was not accepted by the beneficiaries will be redistributed among the others in equal parts, the resolution specified.
