Schmid assured that the first day of strikes was successful and orderly

The head of the Maritime, Port and Naval Industry Federation (Fempinra), Juan Carlos Schmidassured that The progressive protests decided by the organization for various claims began this Monday “in a successful and orderly manner.”

The unions paralyzed the activities in the Paraná-Paraguay Waterway and in the cereal ports and the protests will continue on Wednesday in all the terminals.

Schmid ratified in a statement the continuity of the measures, so on Wednesday the staff will stop work in the terminals of the Port of Buenos Aires, Dock Sud and in the Zárate – Campana corridor.

In today’s protests participated the workers who carry out tasks in the Waterway and the Union of Grain Receivers and Annexes (Urgara), while on Friday the strike will continue in the shipyards affiliated with the Federation.

“As a consequence of the breaches of the act signed in the Ministry of Labor on November 28, 2022, Fempinra began measures that affect the agro-export complex, some sectors of fluvial and maritime navigation and fishing, and the personnel of the ports since Wednesday,” he said.

Schmid maintained that “the workers demand the elimination or changes in Profits and the repeal of the macrista decree 870/18, for which they said enough”; He assured that “the impact of the force measures was successful” and that there is “great discomfort.”

“Reality hits ruthlessly, and there is no other resource than the strength of labor and the union,” he said, and the head of the Urgara, Pablo Palacio, stressed that the sector “is fed up with the breaches of the agreements signed , which contemplated the repeal of a disgraceful decree of the government of Mauricio Macri”.

This measure determined the call for national and international tenders for the operation of a single terminal in the Port of Buenos Aires, reported Palacio.

He added that the personnel of his union paralyze the tasks until 7 in the morning, so that from Bahía Blanca to Timbúes “cereal shipments do not operate and remain inactive,” he said in a statement.

For Schmid, head of the Personal Dredging and Beaconing Union (Dragybal), if the tender to unify a single port terminal was completed, “there would be plenty of people.”

Fempinra has already carried out two measures of force in demand of a work table, which at the time concluded with the signing of two acts: one in June 2022, which established a period of 120 days to repeal the decree, and another on last November 28, and demanded “compliance with the signed agreements.”

The current measures were decided by the leadership of the Fempinra headed by Schmid and Raúl Huerta, the previous week.

“The protests will continue for several weeks and cannot be lifted with the issuance of mandatory conciliation by the labor portfolio, since that tool was exhausted after two periods of negotiations and without an agreement. It is essential to repeal the decree and offer answers on Profits,” concluded Schmid.
