The Port Maritime Federation and the Naval Industry of the Argentine Republic (FeMPINRA) lifted the measures of force this afternoon after a meeting with national government officials in which they were informed of the commitment to repeal Decree 870/18 of the government of Mauricio Macri.
Juan Carlos Schmid, title of FeMPINRA, participated in this afternoon’s meeting at Casa Rosada, where the national authorities told him that “the repeal of the Decree 870/18”. In this way, the union representatives announced the lifting of the strike that had been in force since Monday, through which they also demanded changes in the income tax.
“With this agreement, the measures of force are lifted,” said Schmid and announced that from now on “the operation in the ports is normalized, and a new instance is opened, which was the result of the unity maintained by the different affiliated unions of the Federation.”
The main claim that was raised and that originated the measures of force is the elimination of decree 870/18, originating from the macrista management, which provides for a single terminal in the Metropolitan port. From the federation they point out that this would lead to a monopoly by the next company that wins the tender and, consequently, a detriment to all the workers who are now part of the three terminals of the Port of Buenos Aires.
