The industrial activity during February it recorded a go up 3.3% year-on-year and 0.6% monthly (without seasonality) compared to January, according to the report of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA).
The index reversed the behavior of the previous month, when the data had been driven by low bases of comparison.
At the sectoral level, a certain disparity in performance is beginning to be seen, in line with what was observed in the first survey of the year by the Center for Industrial Studies (CEU), with some sectors continuing to be dynamic and others showing contractions.
Some industrial branches will continue to grow due to greater demand from some sectors such as mining, oil and gas, that show a good dynamism in the last year, added to a greater export positioning of some sectors.
Others will continue showing a year with difficulties, linked to the increase in costs, the drought, import restrictions and the exchange market.
Among the sectors with year-on-year increases, the Petroleum Refining sector stands out, which marked an increase of 20.8% yoy, Automotive increased 22.9% yoy, and Basic metals also stood out, +15.7% yoy.
Other sectors show less dynamism compared to previous months and register heterogeneity among their subheadings.
Among them is the production of Electronics (+4.8% yoy) and Paper and Cardboard +3.2% yoy,
For its part, Metal-mechanic production registered a year-on-year rise of +2.2%, although with heterogeneities within the sector: foundry and electrical equipment had rises, while agricultural machinery registered falls.
On the other hand, non-metallic minerals (-8.7% yoy), food and beverages (-7.2% yoy), and the production of Chemical substances and products (-3.7% yoy) registered year-on-year falls during the month ia).
