Aceiteros point out that the sale of soybeans is delayed and is heavily affected by the drought

Gustavo Idígoras marked other factors such as the “restless exchange market” and “the price”. “The 10 million tons are not going to be reached,” he said.

The president of the Chamber of the Oil Industry of the Argentine Republic and Cereal Export Center (Ciara-CEC), Gustavo Idigoras referred this Saturday to the sale of soybeans. In a radio interview, the representative of the aceiteros affirmed that “it is delayed and is badly affected by the drought”.

The soybean harvest “does not exceed 22 million total tons”Idigoras pointed out. “It has questionable quality by a high percentage of green beans”, also “because of the drought”he pointed out in statements to Radio La Red.

According to the oil leader, other factors that hinder soybean exports are the “restless exchange market” and “the price”about which “the producer I expected it to be older to try to alleviate some of the consequences of the drought and you are not seeing it because the factories are not in a position to pay for it because the exchange rate does not exceed $300″. Regarding this exchange rate, set in the last Export Increase Program (PIE), Idígoras affirmed that the Minister of EconomySergio Massa, was “forceful in saying that under no point of view the decree is going to touch the exchange rate.”

The president of Ciara-CEC admitted that Prior to the implementation of the agricultural dollar, in the sector they had projected “to reach 10 million tons”but clarified that with some market conditions that “have changed”. “Unfortunately, it will not be achieved the 10 million tons and it is not known either what will the floor be”, assured.

“Currency gaps always generate a very strong retraction the grain market as in any other in Argentina; harvest conditions continued to worsen and were delayed; and the international market is not collaborating with Argentina to have an attractive price”, deepened Idígoras. In this sense, he envisioned: “We have to see what happens in May, when there is a formal beginning of commercialization.”

Meanwhile, he assured “The Government is monitoring this issue day by day and minute by minute, including the Central Bank, who is taking steps to cope with the dollar shortage that Argentina has”.

Finally, Idígoras expressed the concern in the sector for the 2023-2024 sowing because “although some theorists visualize a super harvest, they do not realize that the normal conditions of seed production and import of fertilizers are in a critical situation”. “Argentina is missing u$s700 million of fertilizers for the next campaignwhich are not being authorized,” he concluded.
