Trade: the yuan gains more ground every day
At the same time, it is also analyzed whether the objective of the re-invoicing from Uruguay is to avoid paying abroad with yuan —which would be logical if the payments went directly to China— in order to access dollars.
The data is compelling: since these inspections were launched, the use of SIRAs in yuan has multiplied almost 8 times for the payment of merchandise imports from China.
Indeed, only so far in April, SIRAs in yuan were authorized for the equivalent of u$s217 million, against US$29 million in January, which showed an increase of 748%.
The case of triangulations via Europe
So far in the year 2023, 4,803 destinations were analyzed for US$287,781,648 of imports of merchandise manufactured in China and re-invoiced from European countries.
Only 3 countries concentrate 60% of the triangulated operations for US$172 million: the main imports are capital goods (machinery and factories key on hand) and the companies analyzed are mainly from the pharmaceutical, oil, telecommunications and automotive sectors.
It should be noted, none of products originating in China received a verifiable added value in Europe: all were merely re-invoicing operations, since the customs manifest indicates that the merchandise was shipped directly from China to Argentina.
