In September 2021, it was established that bioethanol prices would be updated monthly according to the percentage variation in the price at the pump of gasoline sold through YPF service stations.
The Government ordered a 5% increase in the acquisition prices of the bioethanol made from sugar cane and corn, destined for their obligatory mixtures with naphthas.
In both cases, it set a value of $148,479 per liter, which will apply to operations carried out as of April 16, 2023, and until the publication of a new price to replace it. This was established by the Ministry of Energy through Resolution 268/2023, published this Monday in the Official Gazette.
The last update had taken place on March 21, when the price of bioethanol was $141,409.
The Executive Branch clarified that the payment term for bioethanol made from sugar cane and corn may not exceed, in any case, 30 calendar days from the date of the corresponding invoice.

As early as 2022, Energía was empowered to, if necessary, determine a price exceptionally in cases in which substantial mismatches are verified between the value at YPF pumps and the costs of making biofuels.
By means of another Resolution, the Ministry of Energy set the acquisition price of biodiesel destined for its mandatory mixture with diesel fuel at $294,430 per ton within the framework of the provisions of Law No. 27,640, for operations to be carried out from the entrance of in force of the measure (this Monday) and until a new price replaces it.
