In the second round of negotiations, employer and employee representatives in the chemical industry agreed on a new collective agreement. For the approximately 50,000 employees in the industry, the KV minimum wages will increase by 9.9 percent as of May 1, and the actual wages will increase by 9 percent, as the Chemical Industry Association announced in a broadcast on Monday evening.
According to the announcement, apprentice wages and shift and night work allowances will also be increased by 9.9 percent. The employer representatives and the PRO-GE and GPA unions have agreed on an additional monthly amount of 48 euros in all salary levels in addition to the percentage increases.
“The current economic situation presents us all with major challenges. Rising costs for energy and raw materials are a major burden, which affects the international competitiveness of companies. It was therefore important to create planning security quickly”, commented Rainer Schmidtmayer, chief negotiator for the employers, on the conclusion. According to Schmidtmayer, employees with lower pay levels in particular would benefit from the agreement.
