Authorities love shortcuts. Anyone who is involved in the renovation of their property because of the GEG building energy law will quickly come across the next abbreviation: BEG – federal funding for efficient buildings. The numerous earlier individual subsidies for energy-related renovations are summarized in the BEG. Most homeowners and homeowners’ associations fall under the regulations of the BEG-EM, the federal subsidy for individual energy-related renovation measures. There are currently subsidies from two sources: New buildings and complete renovations are supported by the KfW with low-cost loans.
The funding of individual measures has been with the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control BAFA since 2021. Individual measures are, for example, insulation, the installation of heat-insulating windows or the replacement of oil or gas heating systems with heat pumps. BAFA pays a certain percentage of the invoices.
What is funded, how and to what extent is sometimes complex, especially when the work involves different trades.
