The food, beverages and restaurants trade union announced on Monday evening that it would call on employees across the board to walk out in June. Previously, she had temporarily broken off collective bargaining with employers after the second round. Their offer is completely inadequate.
“We’re going to start a wave of strikes the likes of which this industry has never seen before,” said deputy union leader Freddy Adjan. Accordingly, warning strikes threaten companies such as Haribo, Bahlsen, Storck and Nestlé.
For the approximately 60,000 industry employees, the union demands 500 euros more per month in the lower wage groups, in the other 400 euros more, and for trainees 200 euros more per month. The situation of many employees is precarious in view of the price increases, the union argued. “They expect real relief and a lot more money, not peanuts.”
