Community chiefs from the cities of Necochea, Tres Arroyos, Lobería, Balcarce and Ayacucho met last night in Tandil together with provincial legislators, representatives of different State agencies, members of associations and officials of the National Ministry of Transportation, to advance together with the boost to the return of the cargo train to the port of Quequén, which would result in a significant improvement for regional economies and producers.
The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Globant company where the mayor from Tandil Miguel Lunghi was the host of his peers from Necochea, Arturo Rojas; from Lobería, Juan José Floramonti; from Tres Arroyos, Carlos Sánchez; from Ayacucho, Emilio Cordonnier and Esteban Reino from Balcarce, and other special guests, within the framework of the progress to concretely manage the return of that railway formation from the entire area.
In addition, there were representatives of the municipalities of Azul, Benito Juárez, General Alvarado, Guido and San Cayetano.
Lunghi highlighted in a statement issued this morning that “once again, the need and importance of associative work, of collaboration and cooperation between municipalities to advance, as we have been doing, in regional development projects”, while He said: “The cargo train to the port of Quequén is undoubtedly one of those strategic and priority initiatives.”
“For our economies, for the entire region, the port of Quequén represents a source of opportunities to strengthen growth, with incredible potential for generating resources for the entire area of influence,” he remarked.
The mountain community chief stated that “the train is essential, especially around the provision of goods and services, employment, logistics, transportation and the development of industries related to production, as well as, of course, a fundamental enclave for export development.”
Together with Mayor Miguel Lunghi, among other local officials, the Chief of Staff Oscar Teruggi and the Secretary of Productive Development and International Relations, Marcela Petrantonio, participated.
During the meeting, the proposal of the INTA agrologistics area was presented and the consultant Néstor Teti raised the “competitiveness of the Hinterland region” and the need to provide it with logistics infrastructure, to give way to a presentation by the Secretary of Transport of the Nation, whose representatives virtually expressed their support for the initiative of the Mayors of the region and highlighted the importance of the role of INTA.
After different spaces for exchanging opinions, questions and particular proposals, progress was made in the signing of a final declaration in which the need to move forward jointly with the relevant organizations was firmly stated.
Thus, it was proposed to “carry out together with INTA through its Buenos Aires Sur Center, a technical study on the existing infrastructure of the hinterland of Puerto Quequén with the aim of recovering the freight train; manage the resulting project before the other levels of the State and before private companies, communicate in media of all the significance of the freight train for its economic, productive and social value and inform the legislators of each municipality about the relevance that accompany this process ” .
