The economy grew in March for the third consecutive month, 1.3% year-on-yearwhile compared to last February it marked an increase of 0.1%, according to the monthly estimator of economic activity (EMAE) released this Tuesday, May 23, by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC).

The monthly estimator of activity advanced 0.1% in the seasonally adjusted measurement compared to February, the statistics agency added.

In relation to the same month of 2022, twelve activity sectors that make up the EMAE registered increases in March, among which stand out Electricity, gas and water (+13.6% yoy) and Mining and quarrying (+12.1% yoy).
On the other hand, those with the highest incidence of positive variation were: Manufacturing industry (+3.1% yoy) and Wholesale, retail and repairs (+3.6% yoy).
Meanwhile, four sectors of activity registered falls in the year-on-year comparison, among which stand out Fishing (-15.5% yoy) and Agriculture, livestock, hunting and forestry (-12% yoy).
The EMAE is considered a key indicator since it anticipates the trajectory of GDP.
