Sales in supermarkets grew 3.8% in March in relation to the same month last yearreported this Wednesday the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC).

Besides, operations in large shopping centers registered an increase of 6.9% year-on-yearwhile in wholesale self-services they increased 0.1% in the last 12 months.

Sales in supermarkets taken at current prices totaled $363,217.60 million, which represented an increase of 114.9% compared to the same month of the previous year, against inflation in the same period of 104.3%, detailed INDEC.

The groups of items with the most significant increases in their sales compared to the same month of the previous year were: Beverages (+150.3%); Greengrocers and greengrocers (+148.3%); Prepared foods and rotisserie (+143.8%); and Cleaning and perfumery items (+118.1%), based on measurement at current prices.

In March 2023, sales made in cash accounted for 28.1% of total sales; those made by debit card 30.0%; credit card sales totaled 37.1% and those made through other means of payment amounted to 4.8% of the total.

While, sales in the show represented 96.8% and by online channel 3.2%.
