Corporations are introducing extra canteen areas for vaccinated and convalescent people

Large corporations in North Rhine-Westphalia want to separate vaccinated and unvaccinated people in their canteens. Some can have lunch without masks or distance rules, while others have to adhere to hygiene rules.

Vaccinated and those recovered from the coronavirus should in future have their own canteen areas or cafeterias at large corporations in North Rhine-Westphalia. As the “Rheinische Post” reported on Monday, Bayer, Eon and Alltours rely on such special areas. According to this, employees there should be able to sit together without restrictions, while those who cannot be vaccinated or do not provide information about their vaccination status must continue to accept distance rules, masks or partitions.

As the “Rheinische Post” reported after a survey of twelve of the largest companies in the most populous federal state on their anti-corona strategy, the insurance group Ergo is also examining a comparable regulation. Bayer therefore spoke of several pilot projects that are currently starting for canteen areas only for vaccinated and convalescent people. As with the three other companies, it was also emphasized that non-vaccinated people still have access to canteens, the newspaper wrote. Bayer said that everything would be planned “in close cooperation” with the works council.

Some of those who have been vaccinated organize themselves

The chemical company also stated that the employees would join forces on their own to form work groups without unvaccinated persons. “Self-organized groups” – for example in open-plan offices, laboratories or sub-areas of production – could voluntarily apply the 2G rule “work together without distance and mask or hold work meetings in face-to-face meetings”.

All companies surveyed, including Deutsche Post, Deutsche Telekom, Henkel, LEG Wohnen, L’Oreal Germany, RWE, ThyssenKrupp and Vodafone, stated according to the “Rheinischer Post” that they would keep the home office quota high.
