Argentina paid the IMF interest on the debt for about US $ 390 million

In the middle of the negotiations in the framework of the G20 summit in Italy, Argentina complied with the payment to the Fund with a part of the Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), received by the same organization a couple of months ago.

This Monday, in Rome, a meeting was scheduled between the Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán, with the technical staff of the multilateral organization.

This new disbursement made by the Treasury is part of the quarterly payments that the national State has committed to the Fund for the interest charges of the current financial program.

The payment is the penultimate commitment in the remainder of the year, since in December Argentina should pay almost US $ 1,900 million more.

For this reason, and to avoid a further drain on reserves, the Government is trying to find an agreement with the agency.

So far this year, the Alberto Fernández administration has already made payments of about US $ 2.47 billion and the largest was made on September 22, for a sum close to US $ 1.9 billion.

The disbursements correspond to the interests of the Stand by loan signed in 2018 during the presidency of Mauricio Macri.
