“The next decade is crucial for Germany”said the SPD politician on Friday after a meeting of the “Alliance for Transformation”, in which the government discusses the fight against climate change with representatives from business, trade unions and science. In order for 80 percent of electricity to be generated from renewable sources in 2030, the pace must be accelerated. “To erect four to five wind turbines per day by 2030, to install 43 football fields of solar systems, 1600 heat pumps or to build four kilometers of transmission networks.” Procedures would have to be checked and regulations scrutinized.
