After the recent significant price gains, investors on the German stock market took it easy at the beginning of the new week. The Dax rose in the first few minutes of trading on Monday by 0.1 percent to 16,069.70 points. The MDax of medium-sized companies fell by 0.1 percent on Monday morning to 27,236.57 points. The EuroStoxx 50 also fell by 0.1 percent.

On Thursday and Friday, the Dax – buoyed by the settlement of the US debt dispute – recovered by a total of around two and a half percent and finally made the clear leap over 16,000 points. The Dax had previously dropped to its lowest level since mid-April at 15,629 points.
